Offline backup caused by different versions of MSFT server?

We have several servers, Host is MSFT server 2008r2 but some of the VM's were set up on MSFT server 2012. The VM's running server 2012 show and run an Offline backup, but any VM set up on MSFT Server 2008 r2 run online backup. Just wondering if the Offline status is being caused by the difference in MSFT server versions and if so, is there a way around this? Thanks

Thanks for posting on our forum.

I doubt that the version of MSFT server would be the direct cause; but it's more likely a specific configuration within the guest itself causing an offline backup to occur (which you should be able to alter).
