Rsync fails to backup desktop files from PCs on LAN

BA 8.4.5r1 is on a Windows 7 Pro 64-bit PC connected to a Domain. I run two sets of jobs, one that backs up a server and several PCs (files only) to a 2nd internal drive on the BA PC. All these drives complete successfully. The 2nd set is Rsync which gets sent to an offsite location (Windows based). The server job completes, but all PC Rsync jobs fail with the following error
"1 [main] rsync 5328 C:\ProgramData\BackupAssist v8\temp\Rsync\rsync.exe: *** fatal error - Internal error: TP_NUM_C_BUFS too small."

These errors started when I replaced the BA PC from an older XP box(which had an older BA version 6,x) to this new Win7 unit.

It's Stuart here from the BackupAssist team, thanks for posting on our forum.

Based on the information that you've provided, I believe that this may actually be the cause of a known issue within cygwin itself.
Can you confirm that you're running cwRsync on your Rsync server since it's Windows based? If so, what version is available?

If you've downloaded it from the BackupAssist website, please be aware that this is an older release due to the licensing restrictions that were imposed by the developers of cwRsync.
It could be that a newer paid version addresses these issues you're seeing - however you'll need to get the newest version of cwRsync from https://www.itefix.net/cwrsync.

Alternatively you could also install BackupAssist on the network shares containing the files which are causing issues and back these up as a local source since this is not impacted by the issue.

Unfortunately if the update to Rsync has not helped resolve the issue, then I'm afraid that a full resolution isn't possible within our boundaries. However I have provided a couple of options moving forward to achieve what you're wanting to do that is within what we're able to do.

This problem only occurs when backing up files located on a network share, and not to local based file located on the same machine BackupAssist is installed on.
The two options which I believe will get this working are as follows:

1. Perform a File Protection backup of the files you're attempting to Rsync from the share to a local drive on SBS2011, then Rsync these files from the local copy instead.
Since no network shares are involved, this will stop the error you're encountering from occurring. More information about the File Protection engine can be located at https://www.backupassist.com/education/v9/backupassist/file-protection-guide.html.

2. Install and run BackupAssist on the network share you're attempting to back up and then Rsync the files across from there directly. This will require an additional licensed copy of BackupAssist however.
