Stuck on "Checking backup services" after windows update

Using BackupAssist 8.03 and I ran windows updates last night (2008r2) . When I try to open Backupassist, it just hangs on "checking backup services". What should I do to correct this issue?

Managed to fix it. Tried to stop the BackupAssist service. Windows couldn't stop it, was stuck on "stopping". Killed the process using the command found here. http://emalf-pc.blogspot.com/2009/12/ki ... rvice.html

BackupAssist was able to re-open and seems to work now. Will keep you posted. My guess is some windows ASP.Net update messed it up.
