Timeout during "Verify" process

We've switched our BackupAssist to a new server (successfully, thank you) but have yet to get a complete backup. Night after night for about a week, I experience a timeout error during the Verify process. Is there a way out of this problem?

Sorry, forgot to include that BA version is 3.5.3 and it's on a Win 2003 server.
Permissions are set correctly, administrator login with membership to backup operators.
No difference in the size of the backup files from the 3.2 version that we previously ran on an XP workstation. Going through mapped drives.
E-mail working, with screen shot sent.
Check in Verify box
4hrs 38 minutes elapsed
16,259,133,509 bytes processed
19,578,299,645 estimated
Back up to Firelight 60gig hard drive....
