Exabyte/RSM Error VXA Version

I have a client with a Exabyte VXA-3 drive that RSM is seeing as a VXA-1. THe driver from Exabyte has been loaded, and the Device Manager shows a VXA-3. Due to this identification problem, BackupAssist cannot do the inital tape preparation and therefore cannot be used. MS Backup has no problem performing a tape backup by itself. Is there any way to use BackupAssist still?
