cloud based storage as a backup target?

by baysidenetworks » Tue Apr 12, 2016 4:10 am

Hello,
Does V9 support cloud based storage, such as storage from Microsoft Azure or Amazon as a backup target? Anyone using this feature? I realize you can setup these services as a "mapped drive" with a drive letter to access the storage but I would rather see BA recognize this type of target as a specific and supported type of backup target.

Please comment-

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Chris,

It's Stuart here from the BackupAssist team, thanks for posting on our forum.

BackupAssist supports (and has done so for quite some time) backing up to Amazon Web Services (AWS) via Rsync.
More information about BackupAssist and Rsync can be found at https://www.backupassist.com/education/v9/backupassist/rsync-protection-guide.html.

As for Azure, there isn't a specific component within the software. However as you've stated you can connect to Azure through Windows directly and BackupAssist will then be able to send your data there should you wish to.
