Hi,

I wonder if someone can help me. I'm new to BA and loving it so far. I have a fairly basic setup, backing up a single server to a rotating pool of external HDD.
However, I keep getting the BA237 The wrong external hard disk is connected error on every backup that I run. I'm sure I've prepared the media correctly and set the calendar for the right media on the right days but I still get the error. I've named my media monday, tuesday etc. And I attach the correct media on the correct day. The backup starts at 19:00 and completes with a warning that it's the wrong media.

Have I missed something?
Is there a way I can check what disk BA thinks is connected?

- BackupAssist Version V9.0.1012
- Type of backup being performed is System Protection
- OS is Server 2008 R2.
- backing up to a pool of external USB Seagate GoFlex disks

It's Stuart here from the BackupAssist team, thanks for posting on our forum.

Can you confirm that you're using a new drive for each day you're running the backup? According to the schedule it'll be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.
Can you confirm that you've prepared each drive for the specific day? If you are using a drive for more than one day, you will need to prepare the media for each day and select 'share' on the popup that will be displayed on the second preparation task.

Another configuration suggestion I may suggest is to change the schedule to daily rotating as I can see you have weekly/monthly backups configured for Friday, but not actually running the backup on the Friday to accomplish this - meaning you're essentially running daily rotating as you've disabled the weekly/monthly which are the only differences between the two schemes.

If you're not wanting to run that new schedule on a Friday, then you just need to untick Friday on the scheduling tab (which you currently have done anyway).

Many thanks Stuart, it was this bit I had missed. I didn't realise that if I moved a HD in the schedule I'd need to re-prepare it, even if the label was still the same.

Now that I've done that, everything is working as it should.
