Deleting old deleted files

Hey,

We have a file protection backup job that has been in place for several years. Is there a way to filter / delete those files that were deleted xx ddays ago? For protection against accidental file deletion, the 'Keep deleted files' option is switched on.

Is there a way to get a list or cleanup those that were deleted a long time ago and therefore not needed? The only way I can think is to clear the backup share and run a new one but obviously this isnt good practice.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi there,

Thanks for posting on the forum.

Unfortunately there isn't any way to retrospectively delete files from older backups as they're no longer required.
The reason for this is that the backup needs to be a complete data set as it was at the time of backup (and represented within the backup report).

The only way to remove deleted files is to enable the option under the Replication Options tab within your backup but will only be reflected on future backups.

I thought that this might be the case. I will explore a scripted option.
