Questions

Hi Team,
I am currently trialing your BackupAssist software for my company.

Just a few questions:

1. Can you create a backup task that will archive separate folders into their own ZIP file (i.e. Accounts -> Accounts.zip) without scripting?
2. When custom scripting within a backup task, which context does it run in? it seems to run on the system hosting BackupAssist rather than the source destination?
For instance, I need a pre-backup custom script to call a batch file on the remote system THEN pull the data from the folder for backup. Is this possible?

We're trying to get away from batch file and SFTP transfers to our NAS.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Chris,

It's Tim from BackupAssist.

BackupAssist will not be able to archive specific folders into separate zip files. The selected backup files will be copied into one zip file.

The custom script will run on the system hosting BackupAssist.

I am not sure if I understand your query on the pre-backup custom script. Are you copying data from a remote server to the BackupAssist server to then be included in the backup?

Regards,

Tim
