Windows server 2008 R2 Bare metal restore fail

Hi there, I am testing a bare metal server restore to different hardware, but the same spec.

After the restore completes, the server attempts to boot into windows but stops at a black screen with a white cursor. Ctrl-Alt-delete does nothing, but I can activate sticky keys by pressing Shift 5 times, so the OS is responding in some way.

Using a windows recovery CD, I can see that the Volumes have been assigned the incorrect drive letters - the original C: is listed as D: and the original D: is listed as C:. I can use diskpart to reassign the drive letters, but this does not survive a reboot.

I'm not really sure what to try next.

After attempting several different fixes, I have managed to get into windows by copying Files from my live server onto the server I have restored. The missing files are within C:\windows\registration and are called R000000000004.clb and R000000000005.clb. I don't know why these files are not included in the bare metal backup.

Can you please raise a support ticket directly with our support team so that we can investigate this further?
To do this, please follow the steps outlined below so that we also receive a copy of the log files from the software.
1. Open BackupAssist.
2. Click on the Help menu across the top of the console.
3. Select Feedback and Support... from the drop down menu.
4. Click on Contact Support.

5. Enter the details asked for:

Valid E-mail Address: (so we know where to send our answer to your question).
Subject: Brief overview of your query.

Message: A detailed overview of exactly what your query is about. The more information you give here will make it easier for our support team to assist you.

Make sure the tick box stating 'Submit system diagnostics to help our support team with your query' is ticked and this will zip all your BackupAssist settings so that we can review these specifically for your environment.

If you have any issues using our automated support tool please follow these steps to manually send in your diagnostics file:

Browse to the following folder on the applicable path to your system:

C:\Program Files (x86)\BackupAssist vX (where X is the version number you're running)

Look for a file named and send this to us directly.

If you find that this file is too large to email directly; please upload directly to our support team via ... submit.php.
Please note that there is a 50MB file size limit. If it's larger then please let us know.
