Bare Metal Backup Not Available

by churchman » Sun Jul 26, 2015 2:53 am

I am running 8.3 on a new Dell Poweredge server with two VM machines installed. One for domain control and one for Exchange.

Bare metal backup is not available because of a non-NTFS drive.

I found this previous thread here:

My question is this:

Can I delete this partition safely and not affect Backup Assist or the other server needs?

Hi there,

It's Stuart here from the BackupAssist team, thanks for posting on the forum.

As far as BackupAssist goes, you can change this partition and it won't cause any issues.
However in some cases changing system partitions may cause the operating system to become unbootable.
I think that it's best that you direct such questions to Dell as they will be able to tell you if this is a safe thing to perform or not and provide additional guidance through the process should you require it.
