Hi,

Good day to you.
An IBM server has 3 Drives, C, D, & E. The size of the hard disk is 500GB. The used space is 110GB. The Tape drive installed is IBM DAT 72, with cartridge capacity of 72GB. May I know the way tape back up works? I don't understand how 110GB can fit into the cartridge with 72GB capacity? Is the back up extendable to more than one cartridge? That is if one cartridge is full, then just take out and put another one inside to continue the back up?

Thanks for your kind advice.

Thanks for contacting us in relation to BackupAssist. I'm Michael Jones, one of the technical support engineers.

No, I'm afraid we don't support tape spanning. The job is likely using Zip compression to reduce the size of the data.
