by sqlserverdba » Fri Jan 30, 2015 1:20 pm

I took back on windows server 2012 on a physical server, the backup is in VHDX format. I rebuilt all the drives, how do i restore or how do i get back to previous state using VHDX?

Hi,

It's Tim from BackupAssist.

If your backup supports bare metal recovery, you can use the Windows recovery environment to run a bare-metal restore and restore the system as it was previously.

BackupAssist also provides RecoverAssist which is a tool for you to create a recovery disk to use as part of your restore process.

For more information on RecoverAssist, please refer to the following user guide:

http://www.backupassist.com/downloads/v ... rguide.pdf

The following article also gives a guide on running a bare metal restore: http://wbadmin.info/articles/howto-bare ... ackup.html

You will also need to ensure that the destination drives are the same size or larger than the original disk drives.

I hope this helps.

Tim
