Rsync Questions

by pollardhimself » Tue Jan 27, 2015 2:00 am

Is it possible to do a incremental rysnc backup of a image of the os? If so does that support the backup of everything exchange, sql, and all programs on that drive? Can I do the initial backup onsite then relocate it to the offsite location?
Also need to be able todo standard file backups of the other drives.

What software and addons would I need to accomplish this?

Hi,

It's Tim from BackupAssist.

Rsync will run a file-based backup so it will not run an incremental image backup of an OS.

We recommend using Rsync for backups of critical files but not the entire server and you can perform an initial seed locally before transferring it offsite.

Rsync supports backing up of Exchange and SQL.

For more information on Rsync backups, please refer to the following user guide: http://www.backupassist.com/downloads/v ... pguide.pdf

We recommend using the imaging\System protection for full image backups.

For more information on Image backups, please refer to the following user guide: http://www.backupassist.com/downloads/v ... rguide.pdf

The Rsync licences comes as an add-on to the base licence or as a standalone licence.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Tim
