BA705 One or more files were skipped

Postby laurin1 » Sun Apr 13, 2014 2:47 pm

About once every couple of weeks, we've started getting a failure. Most of the time, it's the same file, C:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V14\Mailbox\Normal\Normal.edb, but at times it's been others (always Store files.)

We are seeing this in close proximity:

Log Name: System
Source: volsnap
Date: 4/12/2014 11:34:57 PM
Event ID: 25
Task Category: None
Level: Error
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer: EXCHANGE01.pridedallas.com
Description:
The shadow copies of volume C: were deleted because the shadow copy storage could not grow in time. Consider reducing the IO load on the system or choose a shadow copy storage volume that is not being shadow copied.

Hi There

It's Gagan from the BackupAssist team. Thank you for posting on our forums.

Usually, BA705 errors/ warnings are related to permission issues with the Backup User Identity.
I would recommend checking if you have appropriate permissions assigned to the backup user.
You can refer to the following link for more details on permissions - http://www.backupassist.com/education/r ... ntity.html

Also, to have a better understanding of the issue, I would recommend submitting the diagnostic report.
To submit the report, you can open BackupAssist > Help > Feedback and Support > Contact Support.

Regards
Gagan

But this account has not changed and 90% of the time it works fine. In fact, if I re-run the job, it will work.

Submitting diagnostics.

What? I said, I was Submitting Diagnostics. Already sent. Actually, I sent them, but sometimes when I use that feature, you report that the diagnostics were never received. I sent them about 2 hours ago.

As I stated before, for some reason, that function rarely works. The tool indicates the diagnostics were successfully sent. I'll try again.

Just submitted again and got the message stating that I should receive an auto-response email to confirm. Have not received that email.

Hello,

I'm sorry, we didn't.

If you have any issues using our automated support tool please follow these steps to manually send in your diagnostics file:

1. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data (server 2003/XP) or C:\ProgramData\ (server 2008/Vista/Win7)
2. Email support@backupassist.com a zipped version of the following folder: BackupAssist vX (Where X is the version that you are running)

If you find this file is too large to e-mail, you can trim down the size of the logs by removing anything older than a week within the following folders under the BackupAssist folder
- Summaries
- History
- Reports
- Temp

With the Temp folder, it's the default destination for PST and SQL backups to be stored during the backup process, so if there are any of these types of backups contained you can remove these as well as we don't require them.

As an alternative, you can also use our manual upload site which has a limit of 50MB. The URL for this manual submission page is http://www.backupassist.com/BackupAssis ... submit.php.
Should you have additional questions, please don't hesitate to contact me - I'd be glad to assist you.

Thank You,

Um, this folder is 1.23GB - even with removing what you suggest, it's still over a GB!

In fact, the temp folder alone is over 1 GB because it contains a bunch of these log files:

Exbackup-1a-EXCHANGE01-2.previous.5.log

Each one is 12MB to 40Mb.
