Rsync Backup Failure

Dear All

I'm having problems with our nightly Rsync backup - and the issues seem to have started occurring with the introduction of Exchange 2007 SP3.

Platform:
Small Business Server 2008 R2
Backup Assist v6.2 (latest)
Backup Destination - QNAP NAS (Remote).

The Backup was originally seeded and then the NAS was taken offsite. Because there are only three users the data changes are minimal and on average the backup was transferring (successfully) no more than 60 meg per evening. Since the introduction of MS Exchange SP3 the backup time has increased from around 45 minutes to 8 and now the completion report advises that the connection was lost and fails with errors.

Through active monitoring it appears that the backup hangs on the following file: D:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exhcnage Server\Mailbox\First Storage Group\E00res00002.jrs which is an Exchange DB placeholder.

Please could anybody schedule any light on why this file would be causing the backups to hang - and what I can do about it?
